EGON KLEMENTI
Born in Bregenz Austria
To some of his collectors, the name Egon Klementi conjures up spectacular floral images and land and seascapes on silk To other collectors, Egon Kiementi is the man who creates fabulous metal-leaf collages that explore themes of music and dance. To yet others, his multi-media virtuosity means watercolors, oils and sculptures. With judicious but bold use of color and a focus on the grandeur of nature, Egon’s artistic antecedents are the French Impressionists, a group of painters and sculptures he reveres.
A Lake Tahoe resident for many years, Mr. Kiementi is a native of Austria where he took his first drawing class at the age of ten. His art education included comprehensive study at the Ecole De Designe De Paris in the late sixties. A decade later, Egon continues his formal study at the Lake Tahoe Community College.
Artistic expression imbues all of Egon’s pursuits. It is notable that his first apprenticeship in his youth was in the art of confectionary where he pursued the design and creation of cakes with care befitting an artist. In his late teens he and his twin brother Helmut put an artistic spin on the tricks of bicycle stunt riding.
The resulting show was so outstanding that the “Klementi Twins” won many international competitions. It brought them venues as the Moulin Rouge in Paris and the famous Ed Sullivan Show in New York. Egon’s wife Elfie joined the show business act and the trio performed in four continents. Their outstanding act brought them also to the Dunes in Las Vegas and later to Harrah’s Lake Tahoe.
Today Egon Klementi is a full-time artist, dividing his time between making art and teaching art. He was presented by nearly a dozen galleries and is doing special commission work with interior designers.
His contribution to art education include serving as president of the Nevada Artist Association, a perennial appointment as Artist-in-Residence at the Tallac Historic Site at South Lake Tahoe, and teaching numerous painting classes and workshops across Northern Nevada and Northern California.
In keeping with the dedication and talent that put Egon Klementi into Austria’s Who’s Who, his list of commendations and one-man shows in the United States is long and includes several Best-of-Show and First Place awards. Further, there are many impressive collections which include his work.
Egon Klementi is a rare artist. His art is a delightful, investment quality addition to any space, from the living room to the corporate boardroom.
