GEORGE LE MAITRE
Having majored at Colorado State in Sculpture/Bronze Metal Casting and working ten years as the Production Manager for a bronze casting foundry in Fort Collins, George found working on the life-size fiberglass Bears to be reminiscent of the many monumental sculptures he has worked on.
After Colorado, George spent several years in the San Francisco Bay area where he did extended sculpture and painting studies at the Art Institute and UC Berkeley exhibiting his work in the area. Eleven years ago he and his wife Patricia Fietta, also an artist, moved to the wide open spaces of Nevada. Together they built their home and studios on forty acres they call the Starry Night Art Ranch, located on the edge of BLM land in Mason Valley. George continues to exhibit throughout the region and has plenty of space for his sculptural work.
He enjoyed the challenge of transforming the Bears ³sculpturally² as demonstrated in his humorous ³Beach Bear² and the expressive ³Caddyshack Bear² that he and his wife worked on together.
