MEDIA NOTES: Bears By The Lake… A CeleBEARtion! will be South Shore Lake Tahoe’s largest outdoor public art display and major community fund-raiser

Beginning May 17, the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority (LTVA) will unveil its summer-long bear mania sight-seeing campaign. Fifty life-size fiberglass bears will be stationed throughout South Lake Tahoe festooned in brightly colored paints, creative mosaics and other artistic mediums.

Local and regional artists, sponsored by local businesses, will decorate bears for public display through September in outdoor public galleries throughout town. Bear sighting maps, designed by the Tahoe Daily Tribune, will be distributed throughout South Shore to encourage the public to pursue a self-guided tour.

In October, the bears will be sold in a live, online auction. The LTVA hopes to raise $200,000 for 10 charities focused to both youth and wildlife preservation and education.

The title sponsors are: All About Realty and Nevada Funding, with corporate sponsorship from: Aramark; Fatburger; Harrah’s and Harveys Lake Tahoe; Horizon Casino Resort; Lakeside Inn and Casino; Mont Bleu Casino Resort and Spa; and Tahoe Daily Tribune.
