EVELYN YONKER
I just love to do any kind of art. I sculpt, draw, paint in pastel, oil and watercolor. I have completed a few bronze sculptures but prefer clay or carving in soapstone.
I have taken art classes at the Lake Tahoe Community College since 1974. I owe a lot of my art ability to David Foster and Phyllis Shafer at LTCC. I have taken numerous art workshops from Ron Ranson, Lian Zhen, Dale Laitinen, Jim Kosvanic, Don Andrews, Anita Wolff and Cheng-Khee Chee. Currently I am taking sculpture from Ardel Uvon Bloomguist and pastel from Lee Netzel at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City, NV.
I am a member of the Tahoe Art League, Nevada Arts Association and the Carson Valley Arts Association. I am past president of Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra.
You can always see me volunteering for something. Helped organize and set up the “Heart from the Art” auctions for the Lake Tahoe Community College. Was adviser for Court Appointed Special Advocated (CASA) to help a young man complete a painting for Judge Kingsbury’s Courtroom. Have been a volunteer for the Elementary Arts Program (EAP) it assist program director to teach art classes. I am currently co-chair of our Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra’s Elegant Evening fund-raiser.
